Renee, Great article on knitting on airplanes.
When I flew to Ireland and England, I wanted to use the long flight to knit a baby blanket I was working on for my niece's baby. It was so precious to me and my husband kept saying, "They're never going to let you on the plane with those knitting needles."
I brought with me a print-out of banned items from the US FFA and sure enough, they let me through. Then, however, we flew from Dublin to London, where the rules are SO strict. They were pulling things out of my carryon bag left and right and I was frantic about the knitting needles! They did let me through with them, but I hadn't thought ahead to the inter-European flights.
Something to think about, as the rules change both in North American countries and in Europe.
The baby blanket turned out adorable, by the way, and I told my niece it's "European."
