My first week at Suite 101 has been a blast! I’ve met lots of new people, learned a lot, and wrote my little arm off. I’ve also thought a whole bunch about our Knitting & Crochet Online Group.
I’d like to start an online knit/crochet group on Suite 101. It will be a place where we can chat, show pictures, ask questions, lend support to one another, share patterns, trade yarn/notions, hold an online show complete with voting, and maybe even do a little group charity work. Since this is just getting off the ground here at Suite 101, it will take a while to build membership, so any word of mouth you can get around about the new group is greatly appreciated.
I’m also in the process of building a website to complement the knitting/crochet section here at Suite 101. This site will have videos that pertain to the articles posted at Suite101.com. Readers will be able to go to the website for videos demonstrating techniques. It will also include news, podcasts, and names of sponsors who will give all members ongoing discounts at their online shops!
I received a few responses to my request for ideas for the group’s name. Thanks—they were great. They were: The Suitehearts, ArachnaKnits, Arachna’s Suite, Penelope’s Web, Penelopiad KC Group, Penelope’s Guild, Penelope’s Loom, Suite Penelope and Penelope’s Suite. Clarifications and backgrounds of what these names mean can be found at a discussion on Suite 101. It explains in detail who Penelope is and why her name would be appropriate. As for the “arachna” based names, those are all based on the greek prefix “arachna,” meaning spider related.
Please send me your thoughts by email or through discussion. Thanks, and I’ll see you online!
