The Knitting Guild Association (TKGA) is a non-profit organization dedicated solely to knitting and knitters. Membership has its privileges.
The Knitting Guild Association (TKGA) is a non-profit organization dedicated solely to knitting and knitters. The Knitting Guild Association has brought knitters together since 1984, and has over 12,000 members. This guild is contemporary and classic, in that it supports old-fashioned values and recognizes traditional knitting, but encourages growth in new directions. Membership is open to knitters at all levels, and it definitely has its privileges. TKGA Shows and ConferenceTKGA sponsors shows and conferences throughout the United States. The guild sees everything in knit as one market. Their shows and conferences provide inimitable shopping experiences by providing aisles of yarns, kits, hooks, needles, buttons, embellishments, books, notions, supplies, and much more of the most sought after knitting and crochet wares in the world. Experts attended TKGA shows and conferences to teach the latest techniques in knit. TKGA is holding their Regional Conference and The Summer Knit & Crochet Show in Manchester, NH on July 25-28, 2008. TKGA Membership BenefitsSubscription to “Cast On”--A subscription to "Cast On" magazine is included with membership. Cast On is a full-color magazine packed with designs, technical articles, news, and patterns. Back issues are available online. The magazine publishes an exclusive guild news section where guilds across the country report what is going on at the local level. Classes / Courses--Beginner, intermediate, and expert knitters can all benefit from the correspondence courses offered by TKGA. TKGA offers classes that cover the basics of knitting all the way to becoming a certified knitting judge. Message Board--The TKGA provides a Message Board as a benefit to promote communication between fellow knitters. They encourage posting notices about the knitting industry, asking questions about current projects, and asking for help in locating sources, products or ideas. Charity Giving--The Precious Pals Program provides immediate comfort to children in crisis by providing thousands of stuffed animals with knitted outfits to law enforcement agencies and other first responders all over the United States. The Knitting Guild Association members and conference attendees provide stuffed animals with hand-knitted outfits and bring them to conferences to be presented to local agencies. The children sometimes tell the animal what happened, and then the animal “tells” the investigating officer. Local Guild Resources--TKGA works with knitters who want to start local guilds or affiliate their existing groups with the guild. TKGA provides local guild presidents with information, online resources, national interaction, web listing, a message board forum for guilds, and an invitation to be involved on volunteer committees. TKGA guilds can also reserve and rent a Learn-A-Stitch kit for club/guild meetings. More InformationFor more information or to join, don’t hesitate to contact the guild.
