This pattern creates an 8 ½ inch long stocking that features cable and hearts. Making it is a great way to hone cabling skills.
Stockings are such a basic part of the holiday season, but not all of them need to be large in order to be hung over the fireplace. They can also be used as “wrapping” to make great gift presentations.
Skill Level: Intermediate

1 Skein Worsted weight yarn—any color choice (Wool works well.)
Size 5 / 3.75mm set of double-pointed needles -OR- 2-24 inch circular needles
Tapestry Needle

Abbreviations
FC (Front Cross): Slip next 2 stitches to cable needle, hold in front, k2, k2 from cable needle.
BC( Back Cross): Slip next 2 stitches to cable needle, hold in back, k2, k2 from cable needle.

Pattern Notes
Stocking may be worked on a set of 4 dpns, or with the stitches divided on 2 24-inch circular needles. When working on circulars, be sure to work each group of stitches with both end of the same needle (not with the other needle.)
